4 REASONS WHY GO

1. Jesus commands it.

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, „All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. I am with you always, to the very end of the age. “ Matthew 28:16-20

2. We „go to grow.“

God has entrusted each one of us as His children to be faithful stewards. We follow in obedience to His call to „Go“ – so that we grow in response to our willingness to be stretched and developed by Him. In other words, we don’t have to be perfect to be used by Him but to be willing to offer ourselves as willing servants to His call. It is in the context of going that we grow in faith.

„Come, follow me, “ Jesus said, „and I will send you out to fish for people.“ At once they left their nets and followed him. Mark 1:17-18

3. We learn to love, which in turn, shapes our character.

Love shapes character. We believe God is love and love is selfless. For God so loved, He gave. Love isn’t that we love Him but that He loved us and gave His life for us. So there’s something about the selfless act of loving God and loving each other that shapes who we are to be more like Jesus, who is our example in love and life.

As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14

4. We view our own context in perspective.

Gratitude is the fuel toward recognizing God’s beauty and presence in all things. When confronted with different worldviews, we need to choose the way of humility in order to understand how God wants us to respond. Submitting to His perspective is key toward navigating cross-cultural conflicts.

Whatever you do, do it all in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17
